Awakenings 2 – What is it?

Awakenings 2 is the long-awaited sequel to Awakenings 1, the graphic novel series written and illustrated by Jesca Marisa. Like its predecessor Awakenings 2 is more art than book and promises to deliver eye-candy overload. Intensely colourful and lavishly illustrated every panel is an artwork. This is a limited edition print – only 500 books – it is sure to delight fantasy and manga aficionados everywhere.

About the book.

Awakenings 2 is 112 pages long and in full colour throughout. This is a fully local production – created and printed right here in Cape Town (with some generous support from the National Arts Council).
It contains two stories and a character art section. The first story: “Mothership” tells the tale of a boy who lives on an organic ship, which grows and evolves as he ages. Together they travel across the world. Seeing everything from afar, he’s yet to set foot on real land. The second story: Grave of Ghosts is a fantasy tale in 4 parts. The story follows a cast of ghosts, demons, one scary little girl and two human brothers traveling across a desolate netherworld, trying to reach a city where they hope their salvation lies.
