Velocity 2 Launch

Velocity is a Graphic Novel anthology comic featuring art by some of SA and Australia’s best illustrators and the theme is fantasy and sci-fi. The second edition will be launched on Free Comic Day -  5 May 2012 – at Stadium on Main, Claremont in Cape Town

The aim of Velocity is to promote South African and Australian artists and writers and to show the world that we have an abundance of local talent that is on an international scale. The book is published by Moray Rhoda (SA) and Neville Howard (Oz) and they launched issue 1 at Grahamstown Arts Festival 2011. The book was well-received and they hope to  build on that by producing two books a year in future.

Issue 2 features art by a host of great artists but on the SA side including Daniël Hugo, Keda Gomes, Ray Cassiem, Malcolm Wope and Lynton Levengood.

The project is completely self-funded and it’s more a matter of building exposure than massive sales. The comic is available at specialty comic shops Reader’s Den and Outer Limits, also at Clarke’s Books, online comic store Dark Carnival and can also be bought from our website www.gaining-velocity.com
